Portland wins ‘ITS America Smart City Award’ for ITS deployment

The City of Portland, USA, has been presented with the ‘ITS America Smart City Award’ in recognition of the city’s deployment of ITS to address congestion, traffic safety and environmental problems. Amongst other noteworthy accomplishments, “…the city has also deployed a truck signal priority program, similar to the bus deployment, which has improved the movement of freight at select locations to reduce delays and significantly decrease the wear and tear of the roads near traffic lights and intersections…”.
