About FREILOT
European cities urgently need solutions to help them improve transport efficiency, decrease congestion delays and costs as well as reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. The FREILOT initiative is designed to provide services that will increase energy efficiency in goods transport in European urban areas. The FREILOT services will be tested and evaluated in four European cities - Bilbao (Spain), Helmond (The Netherlands), Lyon (France) and Krakow (Poland) - with the aim of providing the hard data needed to rollout the service across Europe.
The Launch
The FREILOT pilot phase will be launched in the charming city of Helmond, The Netherlands, on 28 October 2010. FREILOT services will be explained and demonstrated in real-life conditions with the help of Peek Traffic, Van den Broek Logistics and the Helmond fire service. A FREILOT simulator will be on hand so that all visitors can experience and even feel the FREILOT technology in action. FREILOT consortium experts will be on hand to explain the technology and its implications as well as answer any and all questions. Finally, a forum will be held so that interested stakeholders can discuss the FREILOT concept and how it can be applied in their city or business.
Who’s interested?
The workshop is open to all users - and will be of particular interest for public authorities and city representatives, representatives of the freight industry, the media, as well as all interested in ITS and its real life deployment.
